Position Overview

The Administrative Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Ethiopian Community Center and contributes to a welcoming and organized environment for community members. This role provides administrative, financial, and programmatic support while assisting with outreach and fundraising activities.Applications for the ECM Administrative Assistant position will be accepted during a two-week window from April 20, 2026, through May 4, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative & Office Support

  • Works closely with community members and various stakeholders to promote engagement and resource availability.
  • Serve as the front office contact by greeting visitors, answering and directing phone calls, and managing mail.
  • Follow schedules, manage calendars, and prepare professional correspondence, reports, and meeting materials.
  • Maintain office supplies, filing systems, and equipment to ensure efficient office operations.

Financial & Data Support

  • Assist with donation processing, basic bookkeeping, data entry, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain donor and member databases, including renewals. 

Program & Community Engagement

  • Support event logistics, registration, newsletters, process materials needed for events and mailing handling.
  • Participate in fundraising activities and community outreach efforts.

Confidentiality

  • Handle sensitive information with professionalism and integrity.
  • Avoids issues that conflict against the interest of the Ethiopian Community in Minnesota.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Amharic (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with QuickBooks, MailChimp, google products or similar tools preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Community Development, Social Work, or a related field with 1 to 3 years of prior experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Priority will given to active members Ethiopian Community in Minnesota
